The flow-captor CooLGuard
utilizes the weber pioneered calorimetric principle and the unique
therm-o-sense circuitry that monitors the cooling effect
and temperature of the cooling media instead of just the flow.
When the cooling power of your system goes down, the temperature
goes up, or flow is lost
CooLGuard comes into action
you
can depend on it!
CooLGuard is especially designed, for all types of cooling systems,
as a reliable alternative to failure prone mechanical flow switches.
Evolution of the CooLGuard
Every Cooling System relies on a consistant flow of coolant to control
the temperature of a process. The cooling effect of the medium is
dependant upon the flow rate and the medium temperature. Most cooling
schemes employ a simple mechanical flow switch to ensure that a
minimum flow of coolant is occurring and a temperature monitor to
alarm if the process overheats.
Typical Cooling System Problems
The problems with mechanical flow switches are their inherent moving
parts, which are subject to wear and sticking. The typical vane
type switch will always fail in the worst way
open, which will
indicate that flow is occurring even when it is not. The mechanical
flow switch also fails to take into account another important aspect
of the cooling process... If the coolant temperature increases,
a higher flow rate is required to maintain the same process temperature.
Accordingly, a higher flow setpoint alarm is required.
Conversely, if the coolant temperature decreases, a lower flow rate
is needed to maintain the process temperature and a lower flow
setpoint alarm is needed. The mechanical flow switch can not
adjust to this change and may not alarm in time at higher medium
temperatures and may alarm too soon at lower medium temperatures.
In addition, mechanical switches do not monitor the process temperature
for over- temperature conditions.
Now the CooLGuard flow-captor, with its unique therm-o-sense
circuitry, has solved both of these shortcomings. The CooLGuard
continually samples the temperature of the coolant and adjusts the
low flow setpoint automatically, providing a solid state switch
should the coolant flow rate fall below the setpoint value.
In addition, the CooLGuard will provide an alarm output should the
coolant temperature rise above acceptable levels. You have Double
Protection with the CoolGuard. |
